Senior Director/VP Quality Assurance

With a rapidly growing product footprint and fast-iteration development process, QA is a critical component to our success. Marin is looking to expand its QA leadership team by adding somebody who can function as an “equal partner†to product management, engineering leads, and operations.
Responsibilities
- Incorporate QA into the overall release process, ensuring adequate test coverage
- Manage, motivate, and guide QA resources, manual/automation mix, and the overall release process to ensure that QA “matches pace†with development and product.
- Make informed recommendations about the release-worthiness of each iteration. “Push back†when necessary (and justify it).
- Guide the development of new or adjusted quality metrics for Marin Software. Understand and manage to current metrics targets.
- Set a hiring plan within budget guidelines and recruit additional team members to meet that plan.
- Multiple years of experience managing a software QA team including QA automation
- Experience in open source, RDBMS, Java/Selenium
- Experience motivating and guiding a high-performance team under time pressure
- Must have a “hands-on†approach to managing where you can take up some of the work of the team members and understand some technical details of what they are working on.
- Experience with load testing and scale testing. Experience with data-centric testing (ie rolling back to a known state)
- Strong analytical and creative thinker. Functions as an effective problem solver and guide for his or her team. Can bring new testing ideas into an organization for evaluation and trial.
- Enjoys and can function well in a team environment under time and performance pressure.
- Good communication skills
- Interest in online internet advertising (actual experience a plus)
- Marin releases software every third weekend, requiring occasional work-from-home time.
This is an on-site, full time salaried position located in the financial district of San Francisco, (one block from Bart station). Marin pays market-leading compensation based on prior experience.
