We are currently seeking a talented, experienced part-time Senior Editor, Websites to manage a team of reviewers that rates and reviews websites for age appropriateness and learning potential.
WHAT YOU?LL DO
The Senior Editor, Websites, will manage a team of reviewers that rates and reviews websites for age appropriateness and learning potential. She or he will also contribute to the department?s overall editorial strategy and author parenting advice and recommended lists for the site.
KEY DECISION MAKING
The Senior Editor, Websites, will:
Research, assign, and edit reviews of kid and teen websites, and post them to our website
Manage current freelance reviewers and hire new ones when needed
Track and meet review targets and deadlines
Coordinate with Executive Editors to ensure timely reviews
Decide age-appropriateness, education, and quality ratings in conjunction with other senior staff
Interface with the Parenting Editor to create articles about websites
Create recommended lists
Populate site with appropriate parent guidance
Research and stay current with new trends affecting kids on the web
Contribute to editorial strategy
Edit work of other staffers, as needed
WHAT WE NEED TO SEE ON YOUR RESUME
BA (with major in English, communications, journalism, or similar)
Experience managing and editing in an online environment
Excellent writing and editing skills
Early adopter of social media and technology (iPad, iPhone, Droid, Wii, Nintendo DSi, etc.)
Deep knowledge of websites for kids
First-hand experience and knowledge about digital media and learning
Experience in gaming (online gaming, social network gaming, virtual worlds)
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other spreadsheets
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
Proven ability to create content that is creative, fun, informative, SEO optimized
Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, highly focused, highly productive environment
