Design and develop high power electronics for motor drives between 50kW and 300kW; Power device selection, semiconductor loss modeling, semiconductor characterization, mechanical layout of high-current, high-frequency conductors, and detailed electrical design of control and protection circuitry; Work closely with the mechanical and thermal engineers in the power electronics team, and also with digital control and test engineers in other departments; Gate drive circuits for control and protection of high power semiconductors; Utilize experience with motor control algorithms and basic control theory, power semiconductor mounting and cooling, formal educational background in power electronics, programming of DSPs, general purpose microcontrollers, and other programmable logic devices (FPGAs and CPLDs); and Implement designs and adhere to automotive environmental, reliability, and safety requirements, PCB layout, plane definition, and EMC optimization.
Job Requirements: Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or related field or foreign equivalent and 2 years of experience in the job offered or in electronic design engineering.
Special Requirements: Requires experience in: 1. Power electronics design and modeling; 2. Circuit design and system integration; and, 3. Thermal, mechanical and packaging requirements.
