Were looking for an expert to help us define, develop, and test medical devices with significant analog and digital electronics. Summary:
Develop medical device electronics from concept through manufacturing and customer support.
Position Details:
This individual will work within cross-functional teams to develop, support, and extend our electronics designs. He or she will develop a thorough understanding of customer needs, both internal and external, to ensure that the systems objectives are properly defined and ultimately achieved.
Direct and coordinates activities involved in PCBA fabrication, operation, application, installation, test, and repair of products and systems.
This individual must have strong technical skills complemented by great communications and teamwork qualities. Experience in a structured environment such as medical device, or aerospace is preferred.
Principle Responsibilities and Duties
Research and analyze data such as customer requests and specifications to determine feasibility of design. Determine design approach and parameters.
Specify, design and document products or systems, considering performance, patient safety, regulatory requirements, patents, and corporate goals.
Prototype designs using a variety of prototyping methodologies as appropriate.
Design circuits, circuit boards, test beds and other electrical hardware to be compliant with GMP and regulations such as EMC and safety.
Write simple software/firmware to drive and test circuitry.
Interface with mechanical and software resources as part of a cross-disciplinary design team.
Liaison with outside contract engineering and consulting resources.
Coordinate and collaborate with testing laboratories and certification authorities.
Liaison with customer support to investigate complaints, determine root causes, and apply corrections.
Liaison with Operation and external contract manufacturers to investigate and resolve issues with yield, components qualification, or processes.
Education and Experience
BS or MSEE plus ten years experience with electronics design.
Experience with ISO electrical safety
Knowledge of FDA Quality System and Design Control requirements.
Minimum of three years in a medical device environment is preferred. Similar, regulated fields may also be considered such as aerospace.
Proven track record of successful product development using a variety of design tools.
Ability to focus on and achieve scheduled milestones.
A drive to get the job done in the face of obstacles and time constraints, and a willingness to jump in wherever needed.
Language and Verbal Skills
Read, analyze, and interpret engineering specifications, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Write reports, specifications, business correspondence, and procedures.
Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Clearly and concisely convey project accomplishments, obstacles, issues, and status to project team members.
Analytical Skills
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
