The Senior Fault Isolation Failure Analysis Engineer will primarily be tasked with performing electrical and fault isolation failure analysis on field returns, qualification failures, yield failures, and new product development on RF and mixed signal CMOS products.
Roles & Responsibilities
This position has responsibility for:
Perform preliminary failure analysis as needed, including: external visual examination, scanning acoustic microscopy, radiographic examination, and bench testing etc.
Perform fault isolation to identify failure mechanisms(s) utilizing schematics, layouts, FIB microprobing, PEM, XIVA, etc?
Perform electrical bench testing and interpret ATE datalogs to aid in localizing electrical failures.
Develop, characterize, and optimize FA techniques and tools to advance FA capabilities and efficiency.
Work with designers and engineering groups to isolate root cause of failures.
Generate detailed failure analysis reports for both internal and external customers.
Mentor other engineers in fault isolation and electrical techniques as needed.
Work toward becoming an expert at photon emission techniques such as PEM, XIVA, and thermal emission.
Knowledge, Skill and Competency Requirements
Competency is based on: education, training, skills and experience. In order to perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following knowledge, skills and competencies:
Demonstrative knowledge of analog circuit design and techniques to debug analog circuits, equivalent experience in RF a plus.
Demonstrative knowledge of digital circuits and RF measurements
Interpret ATE datalogs and perform electrical bench testing on analog and RF circuits.
An understanding of the various failure analysis techniques used to isolate failures down to the root cause such as micro-probing, liquid crystal, photon emission, SEM, TEM, FIB, elemental analysis, RIE, etc
Experience using Cadence Simulation to isolate failures
Understanding of Semiconductor Process Flow
Understanding and experience with Photon Emission Microscopy (PEM)
Understanding and experience with Thermal Induced Voltage Alternation (TIVA)
Understanding and experience with External Induced Voltage Alternation (XIVA)

Education and Experience:
BSEE or equivalent with 5+ years of experience in failure analysis engineering, product engineering, characterization engineering, or design experience.
