Senior Engineer (Ruby) - Authentication Team
You like to ship early, ship often, and immediately see the difference you've made. You approach problems with an iterative mindset, test your code well, and cleanup code opportunistically. You're interested in security concerns like side jacking, open redirects, and cross-site request forgery. You prefer to be able to act on that brilliant idea you had at 10am and have it in production when you go home, knowing it did what you wanted. You enjoy focused work with a healthy work-life balance - you're truly done for the day when you go home. And you are looking for a place to do your best work.
We are looking for an outstanding engineer to join our team and work on services that are touched by every one of the millions of authenticated transactions that hit New Relic.
We'll trust your judgment and give you the freedom and responsibility to ship improvements to our auth services as a member of a small team. Here you'll work with brilliant coworkers in a supportive and collaborative environment.
New Relic is a Software as a Service (SaaS) company in the business of making great software analytics products. Our Engineering department is based in Portland and we put a lot of effort into nurturing our culture as we grow. Part of growing is keeping the number of engineers contributing to a code base small so that teams can keep continually ship software.
We're solving this by migrating to a service oriented architecture, and you'll be working on authentication and authorization, which is right at the heart of things. We use our own products to monitor our services and keep our decision-making data-driven. We ship our code daily for early and high quality feedback, and experiment freely as a team with our process and tools. We have a no-blame culture that focuses on learning from mistakes.
Managers are out of your way and exist only to help you get the most out of your work life, grow professionally, and interact with the rest of the organization on your team's behalf.
Email us your resume and--
--Include your online identity: Github, Twitter, blog, and portfolio.
--Include a cover letter to let us know what drives you and why we should work together.
In the cover letter, help us understand what the harder problems you've worked on are, and why you think this position is a good fit.
