Job Description
Provide Manufacturing leadership for the successful introduction and ramp-up of new products into manufacturing. Lead a Manufacturing team of NPI and Product Sustaining Engineers, and coordinate with Development Engineering, Manufacturing Process & Test Engineering, strategic development partners, suppliers, and CMs to achieve key product quality, cost, and reliability goals. Develop new business processes for managing SSN Product Life Cycle/NPI activities, working with Program Management, Product Management, and Engineering. Assure Manufacturing resources are aligned to NPI schedules and deliverables. Assure adjacent organizations meet their deliverables in timeframes prescribed by SSN PLC/NPI schedule policy. Represent Manufacturing in key PLC checkpoint reviews. Develop and support NIC integration efforts at new meter and third party partners their NIC integration, with technical and business processes to enable rapid globalization into new markets. Support released products in Manufacturing with continuous improvement in cost, quality, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop clear roles and responsibilities and performance expectations for members of the Manufacturing NPI/Product Sustaining Engineering team.
Analyze current PLC/NPI operational issues and collaborate with Program Management, Product Management and Engineering to implement industry best practices.
Lead the development of overall Manufacturing NPI schedules from first Proto to Production Release for each new product introduction.
Represent Manufacturing at key cross-functional NPI related activities. Understand SSN strategic business priorities and product roadmaps as they affect PLC/NPI execution and tradeoffs.
Coordinate with Manufacturing Reliability, Component, and Supplier Quality Engineering, and HW/FW QA to assure that all necessary component, supplier and product evaluations and compliance testing are completed according to PLC/NPI schedules.
Champion DFX for all new product introductions. Incorporate new manufacturing process requirements into the appropriate design guidelines.
Support development of production test strategy and new manufacturing processes required at CMs for new product introductions.
Proactively anticipate and communicate NPI and released product critical/strategic resource or priority issues with action plans for resolution to management and other affected personnel.
Manage the NIC-Meter integration, including associated toolsets, and network gear portions of Proof Of Concept/Pilot build for new international customer programs.
Manage NIC integration at new and current meter partners and at other third party NIC integrators.
Develop and implement at meter partners and third parties the necessary technical support tools and business processes to assure successful production of integrated products for SSN customers.
Achieve continuous improvement on currently released products in manufacturing, focusing on cost, quality, and reliability. Support the resolution of CM and Field reliability problems with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Develop, implement and enhance policies, procedures, and systems for increased effectiveness and responsiveness within Manufacturing.
Required Experience
BSEE, BSME, or BS Physics. Advanced technical or business degree preferred
10 years? experience in product, process, NPI, or manufacturing engineering role in a high volume manufacturing environment
3 or more years NPI engineering project management experience
Demonstrated excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal skills, personnel development, and results driven, team player.
Demonstrated success in fast paced, complex, business environment.
