About the Job
The U.S. energy efficiency industry is growing rapidly, with substantial public-, ratepayer-, and utility-funded programs under way or being launched in over 20 states.

This is your chance to chart a career with a leading company in the field, with the opportunity of tackling a wide range of challenging projects - in San Francisco as well as in our other locations throughout the U.S. We have an immediate opening for a Senior Manager on the Finance team in our San Francisco, California office.
The Senior Manager will support Nexant?s overall Corporate FP&A function, serving as the Business Unit?s corporate partner, in addition to supporting the company?s corporate development function, including M&A analysis and special projects for the CEO and Board of Directors. This person is expected to interface with all parts of the Finance & Accounting group, executive management and external parties, including but not limited to investment banks, accounting firms and other strategic partners. This individual will be strongly motivated and a self-starter. This position requires an individual who can work independently in a dynamic and occasionally unstructured environment that requires initiative, multi-tasking and creative problem solving. Direct daily interaction with all parts of the company, including executive management will be the norm. Being a pre-IPO company, this is a hands-on role with high visibility and high impact. This position will report to the Vice President of Finance & Corporate Development and will have one direct report, a senior financial analyst.
Duties and Responsibilities
Work closely with the VP of Finance & Corporate development on M&A and/or special projects
M&A/financial modeling, due diligence and coordination with internal and external parties will be routine
Lead overall annual budgeting process, including monthly and quarterly management reviews to track progress against actual performance.
Lead quarterly re-forecast process; participate in forecast meetings to ensure understanding of potential risk/upside.
Work closely within Finance & Accounting and the various business units toward execution of budget and forecast commitments, including communication of progress toward attainment and plans to effect course corrections as necessary.
Prepare financial information and coordinate the gathering of supporting operational data for monthly and quarterly reporting requirements of each business unit for CEO and CFO.
Reporting and Analysis: Work with both finance and business management to identify and track appropriate performance measures. Be proactive in reviewing information identifying inconsistencies, trends and issues for finance and business management including the Vice President of Finance.
The Senior Manager will be expected to navigate through the various departments within the company to help resolve specific issues. He/she will be responsible for performing the typical FP&A responsibilities of forecasting, budgeting, reporting as well as deal with ad hoc projects (e.g., M&A and special projects for the CEO and/or senior executive management).
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, an MBA from a top tier program is highly desired
5-10 years relevant work experience
Strong finance, accounting and corporate valuation skills a must
Excellent analytical and research skills
Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business/personal skills
Leading contributor individually, a team member and a manager
Excellent Microsoft Excel skills (prior dynamic three-statement modeling experience highly preferred; proficiency in COGNOS and/or major ERP systems a plus but not required)
Ability to independently partner across functions and levels of management (comfortable communicating with senior executives)
Experience in the Energy and/or Software industry is preferred
