Growing life science company, Fluidigm Corporation, is seeking to add a high potential senior financial analyst for our Financial Planning and Analysis department. This opportunity provides an environment to grow with the company. This position reports directly to the Senior Finance Manager in South San Francisco, CA, USA. The position will interact with executive management and employees across all levels of the worldwide organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential duties include but are not limited to:
Management Reporting ? Prepare and publish (intranet or TBD server location) a monthly internal management reporting dashboard with key metrics to monitor the worldwide (Corporate and its affiliates) performance, including key business metric around order/sales, costs of sales, operating expenses, and capital expenditures. Focus will be to develop a succinct report that promotes actionable corporate behaviors.
Expense Management ? Work with business partner for understanding business expenses and the timing of expenses, including tracking and summarizing spending, headcount hiring status and capital expenditures versus plan/forecast. Provide monthly Budget vs. Actual (BVA) Analysis, preparing and publishing worldwide monthly spending reports vs. budget including documentation of material variances to department. Present succinct BVA analysis to Finance and WW department heads. Set up monthly calendar for expense management and coordinate with Singapore personnel for inquiries and follow-up of expense support.
Forecasting and Budgeting ? Update Financial Planning System (Adaptive Planning) for monthly expense forecast and annual budget. Manage financial database for actual results and ad hoc sensitivity analysis.
Procurement Review ? Assist in on-line invoice review and paper purchase requisitions.
Special Project ? Provide ad hoc analysis as needed. Assist with ERP implementation and testing (Q1 2012), SOX implementation, compliance and testing (2012). Assist with the analysis for quarterly reviews and the annual audit process. Build models for potential deals and projects.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
BS/BA in accounting, finance or economics from an accredited university
8 years of progressive responsibilities in worldwide corporate financial reporting and analysis (full P&L)
Strong financial system skills
Reasonably strong knowledge of US Accounting Principles
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Self starter with ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks, cope with multiple deadlines, dynamically changing environment, and work under pressure (Full ownership by taking project from start to the finish)
Excellent analytical skills for financial reporting and modeling (ask why)
Strong aptitude with financial systems, e.g. SAP, Oracle, Essbase, etc.
Thoughtful team player with ability to work effectively and collaboratively with co-workers (Not afraid to make requests of team members and/or to elevate issues to manager)
Advanced Excel modeling skills (creative thinker)
Excellent verbal, written and leadership skills with ability to communicate at all levels of the organization in a direct and professional manner
Additional Requirements:
Flexibility with hours, working with Singapore personnel (periodic, not daily)
