Come join our new and exciting Robotics division located in the Boston, MA area!
This new division of Globus Medical is developing a next-generation surgical robotic positioning platform for spine, brain and therapeutic markets. This system is a robotic surgical aid for navigating and facilitating surgical access, implant sizing, positioning and placement, and is designed to enable surgeons to perform procedures more quickly and with greater accuracy, safety and reproducibility than is currently available in the marketplace today.
We are currently seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer for our Boston, MA office. This person will be responsible for designing embedded firmware and multi-axis motion control software for surgical robotic products. This person needs to have strong C and C++ programming skills and experience with motion control systems and methodologies. The position will be a hands-on one with the individual capable of creative and systematic product development with minimum supervision. The job requires the individual to be a team player with the ability to function well in a challenging and fast paced environment. Must be enthusiastic, positive, even tempered and have strong skills in areas of dependability, interpersonal relationships, flexibility and maturity.
Create new product firmware designs and maintain past designs
Verifies designs against functional and/or acceptance tests to ensure firmware performs properly
Support the development of manufacturing test fixtures and documentation
Supports Production / Manufacturing, internal testing and external customers when presented with quality / support issues. Prioritizes work to identify the root cause and create a corrective plan that ensures timely resolution of issues.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
Works with other engineers and technicians to plan and conduct the testing tasks as part of the overall project.
Bachelor?s Degree with 5-7 years of firmware/motion control experience required or
Master?s degree with 3-5 years of experience
Experience in object-oriented analysis and design
Experience programming in C/C++
Experience developing software tools, utilities, and libraries/components
Experience in UI development especially Qt a plus
Experience with Keil or SDCC C compilers a plus
Experience with Elmo Motion Control platform a plus
Experience in Medical Device field a plus
Ability to work independently and as a key contributor in small teams
Excellent oral, written, and graphical communication skills
Working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office, and E-mail
Ability to travel up to 5% of the time
