The Senior Hardware Design Engineer role will be located in Sunnyvale, CA
Summary
We are seeking a Senior Hardware Design Engineer to help perform board level circuit design development on Panasas?s next generation network cards and server blades. The position will interface with many teams including: Operations, Software, Industrial Design, and ODMs. Be ready to work with the latest technology in SSD, Networks, HDD, Memory and CPUs. The team is small but experienced in designing reliable HPC products.
Responsibilities
Work with Panasas product marketing and software development teams to determine requirements for new hardware products and work 'hands-on' with the team to design them.
Prepare hardware system specifications for new products.
Interface with silicon vendors to understand roadmaps, find technologies that are required for specialized applications, and work with these vendors to assist in design reviews and system debug.
Stay current on industry standards that impact rack based storage systems.
Work with in-house and ODM-based engineering and manufacturing teams to implement schematics, PCB layout and prototypes, and drive system debugging and factory readiness for rack mount servers.
Identify, diagnose and resolve cross-functional quality, performance and other system issues.
Experience/Qualifications
10+ years of hardware design and architecture experience on comparable complex client/ server systems.
Experience with 10G network designs a must, 40G is a plus.
Experience with SATA designs a must, SAS is a plus.
Demonstrated superior hardware architecture, design & debug skills.
Strong collaboration skills.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Innovative problem solving skills.
Hands on experience with vendors and ODM partners.
Requirements:
BS Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree and equivalent experience
