Position Profile: Looking for an energetic and resourceful Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join our IT team and help with engineering and day-to-day network engineering and administration. This position reports to the Director of IT and Product Operations.
You must be a self-starter with a passion for new technologies. You are not a good fit for us if you are not interested in learning something new everyday and willing to expand your skills and knowledge. Our work environment is fast-paced, and duties and priorities shift quickly. To be successful with us, you must be flexible and able to shift on the fly while managing your project priorities.
The IT team at iovation is responsible for the availability and scalability of our always-on SaaS Reputation Manager fraud system. We also manage and maintain the QA, Development and Corporate IT systems.
Job Responsibilities
Design, build and operate systems for a rapidly growing heterogeneous infrastructure
Provide Linux and Solaris expertise for high volume production systems
Identify, resolve, and prevent existing and future system bottleneck issues
Manage all iovation storage environments (HDS, Cisco, Brocade)
Develop system monitoring, efficiency, and performance tools
Design the computing infrastructure, provide technical assistance and consulting to the users, and develop tools for managing the system
Troubleshoot performance issues utilizing root-cause analysis and recommend appropriate action
Support community developed open source software in a production environment
Ensure data integrity by evaluating, proposing, implementing and managing software and hardware solutions
Design, develop and support system monitoring and infrastructure automation tools
Participate in on-call rotations
Provide technical support on application server-related and web applications issues
Respond to trouble-tickets via an internal application and/or phone reports
Document systems and configurations
Skills Requirements
A degree in computer science or a related field. Solid work experience can be substituted
Proven project management skills and ability to successfully complete projects
Full understanding of the software development and deployment lifecycle
Deep experience supporting Linux Operating systems in a 24x7 production environment
Strong background with enterprise storage platforms. HDS, EMC, Cisco MDS, Brocade
Expert in UNIX/Linux operating system commands/utilities
Fluency in at least one programming language (Python, Perl, Java, C, C++, etc.)
Deep understanding of the Unix shell scripting (bash, ksh, csh, sh etc.)
Awareness of system automation strategies (Yum, Kickstart, Zenoss, Puppet etc.)
Experience with Blade Systems and VMware deployments
Fundamental understanding of a UNIX-based operating system; for example, understands job control, soft and hard links, distinctions between the kernel and the shell
Experience with web tools such as tomcat, resin, PHP and Apache
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; capable of articulating ideas; able to maturely express opinions and feelings despite disagreement
Able to challenge conventional practices; adapt established methods for new uses; pursue ongoing system improvement; play with concepts and ideas to create novel solutions to problems; evaluate new technology as potential solutions to existing problems
Must be detail-oriented, understand the importance of controlling change without delaying deliverables
Works well in a team environment with a strong customer service ethic
