OverviewCatalyst IT Services is a strong and rapidly-growing professional services firm that is looking for a Senior Instructor/ System Architect to work in Beaverton, Oregon. This position requires a professional programming background with experience in a range of technologies, such as .Net, SQL, XML, or Java. The Senior Instructor / System Architect will be responsible for teaching and mentoring junior and mid-level developers and supporting client projects.
Duties include:
Teach and mentor junior and mid-level developers
Maintain awareness of developers' capabilities and make staffing recommendations for client projects
Evaluate developer and tester strengths, weaknesses, and previous experiences
Produce functional specifications and detailed design documents for client projects based on requirements gathered from client
Directly manage developers assigned to projects
Serve as senior technical resource for client projects
Support project managers in proposal generation activities
Plan and implement continuing professional development activities
Plan ahead for possible areas of expertise desirable to existing and future clients
This is a full-time, salaried position with attractive bonus opportunities.
Requirements
Skills, knowledge and abilities essential to perform the job include:
A high level Microsoft or Java certification
Previous experience as a System Architect or Development Manager overseeing application design/development
5+ yrs experience with full SDLC
5+ yrs designing/developing custom solutions using Microsoft, Oracle, or Java technology
5+ yrs experience with RDBMS (SQL Server or Oracle) including experience writing complex stored procedures and data warehousing
5+ yrs experience using Scripting Languages (Python, PHP, or Perl)
5+ yrs experience of Web Development including JavaScript, CSS, AJAX, XHMTL
5+ yrs experience with web services
3+ yrs experience designing & executing Functional Specifications
3+ yrs experience writing Detailed Design documents
3+ yrs experience of Technical Leadership
3+ yrs experience using the .NET platform, including VB.Net, ASP.Net, ADO.Net, and C#
3+ yrs experience with J2EE including JSP, EJB3, JSF, JPA, Spring, Struts, Hibernate
3+ yrs experience using source control (SVN, CVS, VSS)
Strong written and oral communication skills
