The primary role of the Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer is to perform installation, testing, implementation and performance maintenance of corporate systems and associated technologies including operating system, storage, virtualization, network and security technologies in both on premise and cloud hosted environments. This includes performance of routine tasks including daily systems administration and backups as well as break/fix support across all of these areas.
? At the direction of management, leads the implementation of enhancements, updates, upgrades and patches to ensure equipment is preventively maintained, running properly and protected from security threats. Ensures users are kept informed of changes on a timely basis. Develops and executes test plans as appropriate to ensure updates are fully tested before going live. Performs spot checks in key areas/scenarios to ensure systems are up-to date as well as to minimize risk to ongoing operations.
? Monitors and reports on processes, uptime, performance, utilization and capacity of systems and technologies. Collects and analyzes key performance metrics in order to recommend improvements in those systems and technologies or their associated process.
? Executes and monitors equipment backups to ensure data and applications are safeguarded and can be restored to establish normal operation after an incident or disaster within defined service level agreements. Participates in organizational business continuity and disaster recovery planning, testing and execution efforts.
? Troubleshoots complex issues within and outside of primary assigned infrastructure domains. Provides or obtains their timely resolution. Analyzes failures, identifies root cause and implements and documents short and long-term corrective actions.
? Monitors infrastructure related licensing and maintenance and support contracts, including coordinating support from 3rd party service providers.
? Writes and maintains technical documentation related to networking and infrastructure and updates as appropriate. In areas of expertise, provides training and direction to other IT staff so that they may effectively perform their daily activities related to IT infrastructure.
? Adheres to company polices, regulations and industry standards on compliance, information security and confidentiality. Provides recommendations on products or processes within IT security to adhere to or improve compliance to current or future company policies, regulations or industry standards.
? Management may, at its discretion, assign or reassign responsibilities to this job at any time.
? A minimum of five years of relevant experience.
? BS/BA in computer science, information technology or related field.
? Proficiency in initiating and applying project management tools and methodologies.
? Superior listening as well as written and oral communication skills.
? Ability to plan and organize self as well as others.
? Must be able to work creatively, calmly, flexibly and under tight deadlines in order to respond quickly and positively to shifting/multiple demands and opportunities.
? In depth, up to date technical knowledge and hands on experience in most or all of the following areas: Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Systems Management, Active Directory, Cisco and/or Check Point Switching, Routing and Security technologies, Symantec Netbackup or other similar backup tools, Cisco VoIP management, Cloud/IaaS platform management.
? Ability to exercise independent judgment and creative problem solving techniques in a highly complex environment using leading-edge technology and or/integrating diverse technology applications.
