Aerohive is seeking a Sr. IT Systems Engineer to join our Enterprise IT Operations team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience building and managing a global IT infrastructure, encompassing servers, storage, and LAN/WAN networks. You will work with technical teams and consultants to ensure that Aerohive?s internal systems and networks meet the growing demands of the business. You should have a passion for solving complex technical problems and the ability to handle multiple projects, operating within a large range of technologies, simultaneously and on schedule, while continuing to manage daily responsibilities. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented and an effective team player; able to demonstrate a broad technical skillset and strong communication skills.
Work under the direction of the IT Manager, interface with business applications, R&D, and product development teams to manage global system and network requirements.
Support, implement and/or administer Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems, Active Directory (including backup, security management, user account management, Exchange 2010, etc.) and NetApp Storage Environments.
Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
Troubleshoot service problems dealing with performance, system hardware problems, network problems and application issues escalated by L1 & L2 teams.
Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions
Repair and recover from hardware or software failures; coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies
Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment
Plan and conduct training and knowledge transfer across other IT System Engineers and System Administrators
Define guidelines, standard operating procedures, and best practices
Respond to a variety of system and network support requests submitted to the IT Helpdesk
The person occasionally needs to be on-call during major maintenances, or major system failures.
Minimum 5 years of proven track record in supporting enterprise or customer facing systems.
Strong knowledge & support/administration experience in NAS, VMWare, Linux and/or Windows OS.
Hands on experience in installation, configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance of hardware and software related issues
Knowledgeable on network troubleshooting & networking services, protocols & technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Network routing, etc.).
Strong experience on SAN, NAS and other storage systems. Netapp experience is a plus.
Strong experience in virtualization technology ? VMware, VMware ESXi
Knowledgeable on monitoring tools & technologies (SNMP, WMI, etc.).
Hands-on experience with Active Directory, Exchange Email systems, firewall
Willing to work in a 24/7 environment, analytical and quality driven
Excellent verbal and written communication skills when working with both technical and nontechnical groups.
Project management skills with the Ability to lead a team of engineers in a project environment
Ability to produce system documentation, including writing requirements, operational specifications, system architecture, test plans and as-built documentation, all with attention to detail.
VCP, RHCE or MCSE is an advantage
