We're looking for a senior level Java EE server engineer/ architect to join Acquia and lead the design, development and delivery of a complex, multi-tiered, Java EE distributed and multi-tenant software applications accessed by thousands of users.Summary:
As a technical architect and engineer, you will be responsible for architecting and scaling our application in the cloud to handle the processing of millions of transactions per day with high performance on commodity hardware. The ideal candidate will have experience in developing Java EE server applications using Glassfish, MySQL and Cassandra. The ideal candidate's experience must be in 24x7, highly available, highly scalable, high performance SaaS service.
As a team leader of a small engineering team, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating software development activities throughout the project, including key design decisions for the technology, structure, configuration of the system. You will help ensure software quality of the team, by conducting code reviews and adopting standard agile development practices and should help with estimation / planning of the project.
Our work environment is entrepreneurial and dynamic and we're looking for someone who feels comfortable multi-tasking and working in an environment with rapid development lifecycles.
Basic Qualifications:
BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
Strong Java skills, Java EE, ideally using Glassfish and Cassandra
Experience building REST-based web services
Highly proficient in a Linux environment
Familiarity with standard multi-tiered, multi-tenant architectures
Demonstrated ability to analyze technical requirements, develop well-structured code, delivered on time, with automated tests. We are an XP/Agile development team
Strong believer in a strict "definition of done" and delivering to it
Proven people skills with an emphasis on teamwork
Ability to work on multi-time zone environment
Experience monitoring product development and usage at all levels with an eye toward improving product quality
Demonstrated ability to understand and develop challenging algorithms; knowledge of statistical analysis, machine learning, and text analysis algorithms is a plus
Self-starter attitude with a strong desire to learn new concepts and who thrives in a high-powered team
Ability to express ideas clearly both in written and oral communications
Desire to learn and adapt to new applications and frameworks, and eager to work on fast-paced, exciting,and innovative technologies
