Senior Kernel/Platform Engineer - Embedded, Device Drivers Jawbone
It's the job of Technology R&D to push the boundaries of what technology can do, from military-grade audio to cutting-edge sensors. We get to play with stuff that most technologists only dream about, resulting in hundreds of patents over the last ten years. We spend our time exploring what's possible (and what might be), identifying marketable solutions, and prototyping new products.Currently, the CTO office at Jawbone is looking for a System Software Engineer to help bring up a new software platform. This position will be focusing on kernel level and OS software, there will be opportunities to touch on other aspects of product development such as applications and system services.
Core Responsibilities:
Bring up a new software platform for upcoming Jawbone products.
Write device drivers for the new platform.
Design and implement frameworks for device drivers and system services.
Design and implement OS abstraction layers for system peripherals such as sensors, input devices etc.
Define, design and implement applications to run on a variety of new devices.
Work closely with hardware engineers during system design and board bring-up.
Requirements:
Deep understanding of low level software, kernel and OS on embedded platforms.
Strong background in C and enough understanding of C++ to know to stay away from it.
Experience in writing device drivers.
Familiarity with various debugging methods (JTAG, printk() etc).
Experience working with hardware engineers on system bring up.
Basic understanding of TCP/IP, VoIP, A2DP, ARM, SDIO, SPI and I2C.
