Senior / Lead Mechanical Engineer Bioptigen
Bioptigen, a Medical Device Company, is looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to work in the product development group covering the Bioptigen Optical Coherence Tomography product family. This successful candidate will report to the Director of Product Development and will be responsible for the mechanical design and documentation of products developed at Bioptigen. The individual will be accountable for ensuring that design and documentation processes are fully compliant with Bioptigen?s quality system requirements. Additionally, the candidate will interface directly with manufacturing engineering to drive the transfer of completed projects into manufacturing.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties and Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:
Lead the mechanical/optomechanical design aspects of product development projects including detailed design and documentation
Administrate revision control for all design documentation
Interface with contractors for development of outsourced assemblies as required
Support manufacturing including the design of tools and fixtures
Oversight of supplier selection for plastic, machined, and sheet metal parts
Assembly and modification of prototypes including first article inspection
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
10 years of relevant design experience with at least 2 years in the design of optical assemblies
5 years of 3D CAD experience, SolidWorks required
Bachelor?s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Teamwork and attention to detail are a must. In addition, the successful applicant will possess:
Proficiency with 3D CAD in the design of parts, assemblies and the completion of detailed drawings
Ability to perform thermal, stress and vibration analysis with both hand calculations and CAE.
Ability to design complex machined parts, sheet metal parts, and plastic parts.
Proficient in the various production processes for metal and plastic parts and assemblies.
Possesses a good understanding of optical assemblies.
Experience with the mechanical design of circuit assemblies.
Understands EMI and safety/regulatory issues as they relate to the design.
Ability to use machine tools to make modifications or simple prototype parts.
Understands assembly techniques and can design tools and fixtures for manufacturing.
