About You:
In this position, you'll be a critical member of a talented, tight-knit operations team responsible for our high-traffic production systems, software deployment for both engineering and production, monitoring, reporting, etc. You will wear many hats and ofter jump in where you're needed most. We are growing rapidly both from a user and staff perspective, so challenges will be regular and rewarding! This is an opportunity to work beside and ideally learn from a high-caliber Tech Ops team and make a huge impact on our reliability and scalability.
Responsibilities:
System administration, performance tuning, monitoring, maintaining fault tolerance, account management
OS installation, support, performance tuning, monitoring, applying service packs, etc.
LDAP and Kerberos support and maintenance
End user support for system infrastructure (server and network)
Troubleshooting and resolution of server issues, networks, remote access, network switches, routers, wireless, firewalls and etc.
Proactive monitoring of server systems (e.g. uptime, failover, anti-viral, anti-spamming, etc.)
Maintain and support backups for servers and clients
Participate in long-term strategies for IT
Writing of tools, scripts, etc., as necessary
Receiving, racking, cabling and installation of new systems to be built and put into service
On-call as needed with participation in 24X7 support
Must be able and willing to travel to other internal sites as well as to customer sites as required.
Must be willing to be on-call as necessary to manage production, customer facing environments.
Requirements:
Passion for excellence in systems operations
Excellent communication skills
Experience with both the production site and the internal development environment.
Help us architect and maintain our Unix server and network infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, articulate, and intimately familiar with Unix operating systems and software, provide sound proofs-of-concepts, willing to perform cross-functional duties as necessary, and have a proven history of creating tools and automating routine IT/Business tasks.
Bonus Points:
BSCS or equivalent experience
7+ years experience working as a Linux Administrator(heavy on CentOS)
Unix IT Automation experience
Some Database administration skills, MySQL experience a big plus.
Experience with web and application servers. Apache exp. is required.
Security experience with local/networked file systems
Scripting and/or automation skills (Python, Bash or Perl)
Knowledge/experience with TCP/IP, UDP, IP ROUTING, DNS, NFS, LDAP, Kerberos, FTP, SMTP, NIS
Networking skills (e.g. routers, hubs, switches, firewalls, wireless, etc.)
