Description:
Please note: This position will be permanently located in our Athens, Ohio location after an initial 6-9 months of temporary work in our California location.
The Senior Manager, Operations is responsible for the organization, planning, implementation, and maintenance of all EIA manufacturing methods and processes for new and existing products and technologies relating to reagent manufacturing.
Manages, motivates, and guides direct reports in achieving and exceeding departmental and organizational goals
Ensures the effective use of resources, materials, equipment, and personnel in producing cost-effective, high-quality products
Monitors the need for additional staff and/or capital acquisitions and provides the recommendation and justification as required
Assists with the development and tracking of budgets and product forecasts and significantly contributes to the establishment of operating procedures and programs
Helps develop and monitor business metrics to ensure that measurable continuous improvement is achieved and becomes a feature of the division?s culture
Effectively develops and cross trains staff in order to help build a cross functional team and ensure job satisfaction
Requirements:
B.S. degree, preferably in chemistry or biochemistry, with a minimum of 7 years industrial experience in a biochemical lab in either production or development
3 years supervisory/managerial experience desired
Current GMP and ISO regulations and comfort working in a highly structured, documented environment
Technical competence in the production, testing, and troubleshooting activities relating to reagents
Direct experience and familiarity in reagent manufacturing, especially in the techniques associated with microwell based (ELISA) products
Familiarity with a wide range of production equipment and strong math skills are a major prerequisite of the position
A good familiarity is preferred in project management, budget development, ERP skills relating to MPS and MRP, as well as a sound understanding of the regulations that govern GMP for in vitro diagnostic companies
A working knowledge of quality system processes, including but not limited to CAPA, Design Controls, Materials Controls, Change Controls, Records, and Process Controls is preferred
High sense of urgency, initiative and common sense
Professionalism and good interpersonal skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational abilities, flexibility, attention to detail, and strong computer skills
Ability to use a computer, manipulate a keyboard, and handle laboratory equipment is essential to this position
Ability to visually monitor testing procedures and results for Quality Standards
Equipment maintenance requires the ability to maneuver throughout both laboratory and office environments and to lift a minimum of 20 pounds
