Merrimack Pharmaceuticals is a biopharmaceutical company discovering, developing and preparing to commercialize innovative medicines paired with companion diagnostics for the treatment of serious diseases, with an initial focus on cancer. Merrimack applies Network Biology, its proprietary systems biology-based approach to biomedical research, throughout the research and development process. Merrimack currently has six targeted therapeutic oncology candidates in clinical development.
The Senior Manufacturing Cost Analyst will serve as the primary liaison between Finance and Manufacturing, responsible for developing and analyzing cost-of-goods information and preparing financial reports. The cost analyst will also be tasked with preparing ad-hoc financial analyses and determining areas of potential cost savings in manufacturing. The position will report into the Finance group.
Specific responsibilities will include:
Developing processes for and leading cost accounting for a multi-million dollar biotech process manufacturing operation
Perform annual standard cost study analysis
Ensure all batches are fully burdened with appropriate direct, indirect and overhead costs; investigate, resolve and report on variances from actual to standard
Providing business analysis, forecasting and budgeting for the manufacturing organization, including making recommendations for financial improvements
Responsible for maintaining and improving system of internal accounting controls
Working within our existing Oracle ERP system, Oracle Process Manufacturing module, and lead efforts to recommend and implement any expansions of this system
Requirements:
Bachelor?s and/or Master?s degree in Economics/Accounting/Finance or similar
Experience in a process manufacturing environment, specifically experience with cost accounting
Understanding of GAAP and FASB Statements and their application in a manufacturing environment required.
Knowledge of accounting statements and financial reporting experience in biotechnology and/or pharmaceuticals strongly encouraged
Excellent analytic skills; highly proficient in Excel-based modeling with strong computer skills
Ability to operate both strategically (big picture) and operationally (small picture).
Must interact well in a team environment and demonstrate interpersonal relations by displaying a positive customer service attitude.
