THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED Key Position Accountabilities:
Under the guidance of the Director of Mechanical Engineering, the Senior Mechanical Design and Analysis Engineer will interpret system and component level requirements and develop innovative mechanical concepts. Concepts will be analyzed using a variety of analytical tools, including Finite Element Analysis. Knowledge and experience will be employed to make trades in material selection, manufacturability, performance, reliability, and cost. Calculations are expected to predict design performance, support trades, and be justified under review. Prototypes will be built and tested, leading to mass-production-ready, fully-validated product.
? B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution and 7 years professional experience, or M.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 5 years professional experience.
? Experience designing and analyzing mechanical devices and integrating electromechanical components.
? Modeling and simulation skills using Finite Element Analysis software.
? Beneficial experience ? design with sheet metal and welded fabrication, powdered metal, die cast, and plastic injection molded components. Experience developing comparable products for the solar market.
? Knowledge of manufacturing processes for annual production volumes greater than 10,000 units per year.
? Basic machine shop and fabrication skills are considered a plus.
? Strong verbal and written communications skills. Demonstrated skills in presenting and articulating design trade-offs. Deliver presentations that are tailored to the audience. Provide alternatives from the business perspective. Be able to support under critical review.
? Provide regular status updates. Speak and write effectively to convey status and information to project team and managers. Involve all relevant staff members in communications.
? Receive general direction, but exercise discretion as to time management, independently prioritizing and executing tasks. Must possess strong initiative and drive in meeting project milestones and completing deliverables.
? Demonstrate follow-up and follow-through. Must be organized and methodical, with attention to detail.
-Write or interpret product requirements and specifications.
-Proficiency in the use of ANSYS software is required.
-SolidWorks CAD proficienty is required.
-Use of Microsoft Office suite of software ? Word/Excel/PowerPoint
-Excellent use of mathematical and analysis capabilities to provide data-driven conclusions. Contribute to identification and evaluation of design alternatives. Formulate a relevant opinion/solution and make recommendations. Identify alternative solutions and evaluate trade-offs regarding strengths and weaknesses.
-Perform design trade studies.
-Lead design reviews.
-Support the use of FMEA tools.
-Review, interpret, and mark-up or change Engineering drawings.
-Successfully partner with teammates, suppliers and customers (both internal and external). Establish and leverage relationships to achieve common project objectives.
