We are currently searching for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join SAGE in Faribault, MN (35 miles South of Minneapolis).
Summary:
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be a key contributor to the product development group at SAGE Electrochromics, focused primarily on control system components for SageGlass window products and dimensional design and tolerance management of the IGU product. This individual will collaborate with electronic and software engineers, marketing personnel and industrial designers on a range of exciting new products including photovoltaic-powered wireless controls, novel control panel concepts, user interfaces, and connectors, with demanding aesthetic, integration and performance requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
Develop enclosures for SageGlass control products including panel-mount controls, user interfaces, optical sensors and outdoor photovoltaic assemblies
Contribute to and/or lead activities such as brainstorming creative solutions to market needs, developing and evaluating prototypes, thorough mechanical test planning and execution, material selection, and product documentation.
Develop, maintain and report on project plans and schedules
Oversee the dimensional design and tolerance stacking of the IGU product to ensure optimal performance with robust manufacturing. Develop and maintain drawings of numerous product configurations.
Requirements:
A degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
Minimum Five years experience in product design
Minimum Three years hands-on experience with Solid Works
Strong DFM (design for manufacturing) skills
Demonstrated ability developing packaging solutions for electronic products
Well versed in material properties, compatibilities, and fabrication techniques
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
The ideal candidate will also have:
Design and testing experience on electronic products for outdoor environments
Ability to work comfortably with electronic test systems
Thermal design experience and FEA
Significant AutoCAD experience
Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
