Job Description:
The successful candidate, reporting to the of Director of Medical Affairs, will be responsible for writing,
reviewing and editing scientific and clinical, peer reviewed manuscripts, abstracts, posters, oral
presentations, clinical study reports and reviews in support of Crescendo products. In partnership with
leadership, this position will be responsible for development of Crescendo?s strategic publication plan
and will manage external medical writing agencies and liaise with key internal and external stakeholders
to ensure the seamless development and execution of publications.
Essential/Primary Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
Lead the development of the strategic plan and tactical execution of Crescendo publications
? Analyze published data/develops strategies to enhance literature base on the product
? Contribute to interpretation of medical data and presentation of clinical findings
? Identify target journals and congresses for the product
Execute tactical publication plan to meet objectives and timelines
? Manage development of scientific and clinical, peer reviewed abstracts, posters, oral
presentations, manuscripts, clinical study reports and reviews to support timelines defined in
the Publication Plan
? Oversee external medical writing agencies to collaborate and coordinate medical writing
activities
? Implement and oversee review and approval processes
? Serve as publications liaison with external authors
? Interact with key internal and external stakeholders, authors and Investigators in the
preparation of publications
? Conduct, manage and facilitate the publication review and submission process, which includes
distribution for review to internal and external stakeholders, collation and adjudication of
comments, collection of conflicts of interest information and final approval
? Execute literature searches, synthesize findings and prepare summaries for internal distribution
? Liaise with appropriate stakeholder(s) to maintain publications database
? Ensure adherence to industry wide standardsRequired Knowledge and Skills:
? Minimum of 8 years of medical writing/editing, publication management in the biotechnology or
pharmaceutical industry, preferably with some experience in chronic diseases (preferably
rheumatology, autoimmune diseases), immunology or related areas
? Must demonstrate a high-quality writing style in the English language and have the ability to
independently analyze and synthesize data from a broad range of disciplines
? Proficient in scientific and clinical, peer reviewed writing, editing, reviewing and submission of
abstracts, posters, oral presentations, manuscripts and reviews with different audiences
including physicians, nurses, pharmacists and payers
? Proficient in literature searches, their analyses and evaluation
? Exceptional organizational and project planning skills with particular attention to detail
? Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate and work in a cross-functional environment
with a wide range of people to achieve results
? Dynamic, self-starter with strong influential skills and adaptable to change
Customer & Industry Knowledge:
? Thorough knowledge of Good Publications Practices (GPP2) and Guidelines for Authorship of the
International Congress of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE 1997 Vancouver Criteria)
? Knowledge of biostatistical and clinical research concepts
? Familiar with style rules from the American Association Manual of Style, 10th Edition and
creation and use of consort diagrams
? Possesses knowledge of journal/congress formats (vs. regulatory formats)
Education/Training/Certification:
? Advanced level scientific degree (MS, PharmD, MD, PhD) preferred
? ISMPP certification preferred
