Senior MEMS Reliability Engineer Sand 9, Inc.
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED
Sand 9 was formed in 2007 to develop revolutionary MEMS resonator products based on novel high performance resonator technology. We are financed by premiere venture capital funds including Commonwealth Capital, General Catalyst, Flybridge, and Khosla Ventures. Sand 9 is located in Kendall Square in Cambridge, MA, with an office in Chandler, AZ.
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Senior MEMS Reliability Engineer's primary responsibility will be to manage the reliability and quality assurance process and execution of Sand 9 products. The ideal candidate will be a motivated and self-directed individual, with a proven record of contributions to team success, including advising senior management on issue resolution in real time.
Responsibilities:
Develop methods and techniques for in depth characterization of MEMS reliability failures. This may include interaction with outside characterization lab(s) as needed.
Coordinate and/ or participate in performing detailed FAs and root cause analysis from production / development process devices.
Characterize reliability failures and derive hypothesis on potential root cause. Define and conduct experiments to verify hypothesis of root cause as well as to gain understanding the physics and mechanisms of reliability failures (including participation in developing new models for acceleration factors for field failure predictions based on new failure modes).
Interact effectively with Design, Process Development/Integration, Test, and FA to collect sufficient data and information to understand the failure mechanisms and provide recommendations for improvement actions.
Work with customer QA contacts and internal QA team to address and coordinate FA on customer RMA's, which may include preparing external and internal reports as needed.
Experience Required:
5+ years of hands-on practical experience on MEMS Reliability characterization, device physics, device characterization techniques, failure analysis and isolation techniques and experience in areas of MEMS specific failure mode isolation.
Experience with understanding of semiconductor and MEMS process understanding is strongly preferred.
Experience in characterization methodology development, data analysis, data acquisition, and programming is a strongly preferred.
Ability to develop and implement testing and qualification procedures for MEMS reliability and the specific tests protocols for accelerating specific MEMs - failures, leading to enhanced reliability understanding and accurate lifetime prediction.
Experience in interfacing with customer QA issues and RMA resolution, which requires exceptional communication and project management skills to work effectively with internal and external client QA teams.
Demonstrated success with customer account interactions, technical product solution support and service, and effective vendor relationship and management.
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or related fields. Doctorates degree is preferred.
Experience working in a start up or other small, high growth company.
Ability to travel domestic and internationally up to 40-50.
