Senior Mobile Application Developer Apangea Learning
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED Hi! We're Think Through Math. We help students gain confidence in math so they can succeed in school, in their career, and in life. We reach a million students in the U.S. and we're on track to double that by 2014. Thanks to our growth we're looking to add solid developers to our platform engineering team. If you're an experienced mobile developer (Android, iOS - either works) to make an impact with your work, we'd love to talk to you. We aren't looking for rockstars or cowboys; just solid developers who can work with stakeholders, designers, and UX to make our platform everything that we envision. We're not hung up on years of experience (mobile is a young science after all) although you do need to have a background in the industry and ideally you can point to apps you've built in the past.
What you will work on:
Lead our tablet app development initiatives, working with inside and contracted design, UX and development groups and resources
Integrate new apps with our existing Rails and node.js server endpoints
Evangelize mobile/tablet development best practices throughout the engineering team and the company
We're looking for...
Demonstrable experience with mobile app development technologies, we don't care if your background is iOS or Android although we plan to have solutions on both platforms. Our apps will focus on animation libraries, server APIs, and push notifications among other functionality. You'll be architecting and implementing major system components and you'll get to pick the tools that make the most sense for the job. We're looking for developers who have worked on production-facing applications at scale. Since we're an education company targeting youth it helps if you've worked on eduational apps or serious games.
How we work
We're passionate and opinionated about our craft, but we're always focused on helping students learn math.
We do daily standups, code reviews, and pairing regularly. We work on two-week iterations, but we prefer to ship features when they are ready.
We do iteration demos; developers get a chance to show off their creations to the company and get feedback. We do iteration retrospectives too; improving our craft is really important to us.
An undergraduate degree (preferably in Computer Science or similar field) helps, but your work history and/or github profile is the best way to show what you have done and what you can do. We're looking for people who design and build cool systems because it's their passion.
We use git for version control so it helps to have worked with git before, but we've helped team members learn git plenty of times.
If you're local to Western PA and you think you're a good match, reach out to us! Even if you're not local, feel free to contact us. We're open to relocation and remote team members if you're a great match.
