Description
Senior Network Engineer actively participates in the Dotomi IT Infrastructure and Operations Department designing and administering the day-to-day technology operations of Dotomi networks and servers -- focus being on network design, administration and security, production operations and support, and data center administration.
Essential Job Functions/Activities
Network Administration and Support
Network administration, monitoring and maintenance
Performance and capacity planning and monitoring
Network and systems security architecture and management
Network tuning and automation
Level 1 / 2 troubleshooting and triage of issues
Enhancements and improvements to existing systems infrastructure
Data center build out and server administration
Linux administration and maintenance
Server and data center automation
New projects and initiatives
Minimum Job Requirements
Education:
Bachelor?s degree or equivalent experience.
Years of Experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience in the capacity of a Network and Systems Administrator in a multi-layer, low-latency, globally distributed eCommerce environment
Specific Technical Skills and Abilities:
Excellent knowledge and hands-on experience working with distributed enterprise network hardware (e.g., Cisco switches, routers, Juniper firewalls, Brocade switches)
Excellent understanding of networking and systems protocols and performance: TCP/IP, DNS/BIND, NTP, HTTP/HTTPS, RSYNC, LDAP, NFS, and SNMP
Broad knowledge and experience with global wide-area networking, latency reduction and fault tolerance
Solid knowledge of both commercial and open source monitoring tools and utilities: Nagios and RRDTool-based monitoring / graphing solutions (e.g., Cacti, MRTG, Cricket, NMS)
Experience with implementing and maintaining network security controls, logging, IDS/IPS
Experience with configuring and managing edge caching and acceleration technologies (Akamai)
Excellent knowledge and hands-on experience working with enterprise open source systems (Red Hat Enterprise Linux or CentOS)
Previous experience with data center setup and management
Strong knowledge of Configuration Management / RPM management processes
Knowledge of scripting and automation languages
Experience working with DELL server and storage hardware, including remote administration, a plus
Specific Soft Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated ability and drive to perform in a demanding multi-tasking environment, and a willingness to ?wear many hats? that cover all elements of the various components
Desire to take ownership for products and deliver exceptional service and stability to expand the business
Willingness to learn and work with multiple inter-locking applications, tools and technologies
Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, responsiveness and creativity, flexibility, ability to plan and organize
Strong written and verbal skills required
Ability to operate independently in a dynamic environment with rapid release cycles, multifunctional teams and tight project timeframes
Willingness to work in a rotational 24x7 support operation and handle on-call duties as needed
Outgoing personality with a work hard / play hard / never fail attitude
Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications:
Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) or other Cisco certifications required
Additional certifications with Brocade, Juniper or other hardware a plus
Red Hat Systems Administration or Red Hat Certified Technician course-work / certifications a plus
