JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary of Functions:
The Senior Network Engineer?s role is to ensure the stability and integrity of New Breed?s voice, data, video, data center, and wireless network services. This is achieved by planning, designing, and developing local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) across the organization. In addition, the Senior Network Engineer will participate with the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. This individual will also analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide mentoring and training of junior staff members where required.
Responsibilities
Strategy & Planning
Collaborate with management department leaders and Enterprise Architect to assess near- and long-term network capacity needs.
Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.
Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network administration (operations), usage, and disaster recovery.
Acquisition & Deployment
Design and deploy company LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including routers, switches, controllers, firewalls, and other hardware.
Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry.
Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.
Operational Management
Configure networks to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.
Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of enterprise network hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
Help Ensure network connectivity of all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, fax machines, and other network appliances.
Aid in network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
Participate in managing all network security solutions.
Perform security audits, and system backups and recovery.
Mentor, train and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team.
Use System Management tool to provide up to date CI information, Incident recording, and Change management functions required
Position Requirements
Formal Education & Certification
University degree in either Computer Science , Information Technology, Electrical Engineering and/or 12 years equivalent work experience.
Certifications: CCNP highly desired.
Knowledge & Experience
Proven experience and success with LAN, WAN, WLAN, and WWAN design and implementation.
Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.
Strong, hands-on technical knowledge of network operating systems, CISCO IOS.
Extensive knowledge of Routing and Switching required.
Strong technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards, including: BGP, EIGRP, MPLS, Cisco?s Data Center Network Design and Architecture, as well as Hierarchical Network Design, Cisco Routers and Switches including: 6500 series as well as Nexus 7000, 5000, and 2000 series.
Excellent hardware troubleshooting experience.
Competence with testing tools and procedures for voice and data circuits.
Ability to align service offerings with the organization?s goals and objectives.
Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.

Work Conditions
On-call availability for 1 week out of every 10 to 14 weeks.
10 to 15% travel is required for this position
Sitting for extended periods of time.
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components.
Occasional inspection of cables in floors and ceilings.
Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as network equipment and peripherals.
