This position will be responsible for designing, monitoring, and maintaining the global network for Vesta Corporation.
This person will design, troubleshoot, and monitor all aspects of the company Local Area Network (LAN), and Wide Area Network (WAN). Work in a team to build an environment conducive to growth and maintainability. Assist with security projects that directly involve configuration changes to network infrastructure equipment (firewall, routers, etc.). Uses advanced troubleshooting skills to solve technical issues that interrupt daily operations on network environments. Handle day to day activities to support changes in the network.
Duties:
Designs, develops, and implements integrated network architectures to support ongoing operations.
Setup, configure, optimize, and maintain standards for wiring, system security, and routing / switching protocols to include BGP, EIGRP, NAT, QoS, VLANs, Spanning Tree, IPSEC VPNs, SIP, and HSRP.
Plan, setup, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot all facets of Local and Wide Area network equipment to include modems, switches, routers, firewalls, etc.
Ensure that systems are properly secured.
Perform capacity planning.
Complete installations in a timely and professional manner, including proper mounting of hardware and securing of cabling.
Manage the data cable infrastructure, including design, planning, implementation, and documentation.
Adhere to change management policies and procedures.
Communicate activity and changes within the
Network group as well as the IT Teams that will be affected.
Work with Vendors to obtain network services (WAN), and to resolve complex issues when outages occur.
Create and maintain documentation to support the global network
Qualifications:
Cisco certification preferable.
3-10 years of experience from a large business network.
Working knowledge of Cisco network hardware extensively, current standards for low voltage cabling, TCP /IP networking, understands the fundamentals of power systems, thought understanding of telephone systems, and strong vendor management skills.
Working knowledge of F5 Load Balancers and Global Traffic Manager.
Good knowledge of network monitoring tools and performance monitoring.
3-5 years experience designing, implementing and maintaining WANs, including detailed knowledge of protocols including Frame Relay and MPLS, and experience with domestic and foreign point-to-point connectivity standards, such as T1 and E1 (DS1) circuitry, etc.
Ability to work professionally and structured and to document your work is mandatory. Well developed trouble shooting skills.
Speak and write English fluently.
Spanish speaking a plus
Ability to work individually as well as in a large team environment
Good communication skills and ability to cover both end-user communication and technical high level communication with colleagues.
Some after hours and weekend work will be required including participation in the department on-call rotation cycle;
Some limited travel to other offices will be required, including international travel;
Physical capability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Work effectively under job pressure due to deadlines.
