We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer who is proficient in all aspects of network administration and engineering with a strong and diverse Cisco and F5 background. This person will participate in capacity planning and design of networks, systems, applications, and provide technical support and consultation for the Operations and IT department and other internal Xoom customers.
This person will also act as a liaison to vendor support, install, manage and support Cisco routers, ASA Firewalls, Catalyst Switches, and F5 load balancers and be a mentor to other technical staff. Deep knowledge of TCP/IP internetworking, firewalls, ids, data communication, global WAN, and LAN routing issues is crucial, and a minimum of five years Unix or Linux system administration experience is required and participation in a second-tier team on call for 24X7 emergencies.
Other required qualifications are strong interpersonal and communication skills, solid understanding of networking and distributed computing environment concepts, understanding of client/server security and design concepts, and the a strong understanding of Internet and Intranet architectures and security experience in IT support or administration is preferred.
Responsible for the design, implementation, and support of production SaaS, Dev, QA and corporate enterprise networks
This position will be focused on data center networking and support of Cisco networking devices, IDS/IPS and F5 load balancers
Manage network and telecommunications projects and systems as assigned
Manage technology platforms: administration, backup, firmware updates, maintenance coverage, capacity planning, configuration standards, lifecycle planning, etc
Provide 24 x 7 on-call support for one week in rotation every five weeks
Provide consulting for network services, capabilities, and system and software implementation
Hands-on involvement with installation, management and support for a complex, highly available network infrastructure
Generate and maintain appropriate documentation for internal and external consumption on all aspects of network and system infrastructure
Troubleshoot performance and stability issues in a timely fashion
Provision network and other resources as needed at local and remote facilities
Communicate status and progress effectively
Must be able to work within a team both as a leader and as a team member
Must be able to convey knowledge to customers, peers, and managers of widely diverse skill levels

Excellent communication skills and documentation skills a must
Key Skills and Experience:
7+ years of experience in a hands-on Network Administration/Engineering role with a focus on Cisco technology
5+ years UNIX or Linux system administration
2+ years Datacenter management and support experience preferred
3+ years Project management experience in the creation and design of medium and large-scale systems
Strong understanding of client-server software, networking components, server architectures, performance bottlenecks, network infrastructures
Strong understanding of virtualization architectures is a plus
Strong understanding of VPN technology as well as DNS, SMTP, FTP and WWW protocols
Proficiency with BGP, OSPF, HSRP/VRRP, VLAN's, STP and other routing protocols
Deep understanding of network architecture and design with an emphasis on Wide Area Ethernet, Internet, Desktop Computing, and Cloud technologies
CCNP certification is a requirement
CCIE and CCVP certification is a strong plus
Experience and knowledge of managing multiple remote sites over high-speed WAN circuits
Experience with network sniffing, bandwidth monitoring, advanced network troubleshooting tools
Implementation management and process definition.
Network maintenance, issue resolution, and continuous improvement methodologies
Must be able to work independently in a highly dynamic and fast-paced environment with changing priorities
