Job Summary:
Design, document, developand test the electrical aspects of a distributed industrial control system circuitry within a distributed control system as part of a complex grid-scaleenergy storage system (ESS).Apply advanced knowledge of electrical systems, low to medium voltage switch gear, instrumentation and automation.Utilizediversified knowledge of distribution panels, transformers, control & powercabling and wiring. Demonstrate solid knowledge of NEC, NFPA and UL.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Perform detailed analysis, design and modeling of electrical equipment, components and circuits for highly complex grid-scale energy storage system (ESS) products.
Supports activities to ensure manufacturing, construction, installation and operational testing conform to functional specifications, regulatory safety standards, requirements and industrial best practices.
Researches, develops, designs and directs fabrication and tests electrical and electromechanical components, equipment, controllers, devices and systems of a complex nature, utilizing principles and techniques of electrical engineering.
Determines methods, procedures, conditions and validations for testing products and may direct or coordinate testing of equipment, products and processes.
May conduct product life cycle analysis or conduct destructive testing on products to determine long term reliability and functionality of product.
May specialize in specific area of electrical engineering discipline such as electrical energy generation and transmission systems, electrical products, appliances, controllers and relays.
Plans, designs, modifies and tests electrical/electronic components, equipment, facilities, products and circuitry for use in electrical/electronic equipment and devices.
Develops new applications and performance standards for products and processes.
May require knowledge of domestic and international regulatory requirements, as well as testing methods, for safety, flammability, toxicity, electrical hazard and recycling of obsolete product materials.
Develops and applies advanced electrical engineering theories and methods to solve complex and advanced technical problems on the fore front of new technologies.
Work closely with other engineers as well as the supply chain staff to optimize and continuously improve ESS products.
Work with the service organization to address issues in deployed systems.
Work closely with manufacturing personnel to address product line issues. Assess suitability of materials used to manufacture products through researching and evaluating potential components.
Optimize product cost by working with internal departments, vendors and customers.
Create prototypes for beta testing and for customer demonstration.
Ensure that vendors and contractors have the abilities and resources to support development. May collaborate with vendors on product specifications and component selection.
Prepare reports of research findings for management; making recommendations based upon research conclusions. Actively participate in product design meetings as appropriate.
Remain current with market trends and functional requirements for company products.

Preferred Qualifications:
B.S. Electrical Engineering, 8-10 years of related experience or M.S. degree, 6-8 years of related experience or Ph.D. degree, 5 or more years of related experience.
Experience with design of pneumatic and hydraulic pressure equipment and systems. Experience in large-scale capital project deployment desirable.
Knowledge of electrical theories, design principles and practices, and design evaluation techniques.
Time management, organizational, and prioritization skills.
Problem solving skills and ability to analyze and solve problems related to hardware, firmware, and system integration.
Communication and presentation skills, to properly communicate relevant information to staff and management.
Business acumen, and ability to process decisions from a broader company-wide perspective, taking into consideration the financial and business environment.
Leadership skills to effectively mentor and guide the technical staff.
