Summary: We are looking for a seasoned Oracle Database Administrator with 7+ years experience maintaining an Oracle 11G environment for a high availability 24x7 SaaS operation across multiple environments. Experience with Postgres, Mongo, MySQL and Vertica is also helpful for this position.
Responsible for the design, implementation and operations of computer databases supporting both customer and internal applications, by performing the following duties, personally or with peers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
Proven ability to design, develop and maintain a high availability database environment for a mission critical 24x7 operation in support of existing and future enterprise applications.
Understands the use of information systems, the importance of business and financial data integrity and security, the need to protect information, and the obligation to follow appropriate security controls.
Design and manage Enterprise Production databases, creates physical/logical design, administration, monitoring, tuning.
Expert knowledge of backup and recovery processes that are designed for optimum speed and efficiency. Experience with database snapshots in support of sub-production environments.
Design and implement new data models, tables, and schemas to support new functionality as the Enterprise business demands.
Experience with Data Warehousing/Mining experience is a plus.
Develop and review PL/SQL for Production and sub-environments to ensure accuracy and optimization.
Interface with Enterprise IT Operations, Applications Development, and IT Business units to understand and interpret on-going business needs, storage and reporting requirements, and emerging trends.
Perform routine database maintenance, evaluate and schedule system upgrades and enhancements, and install software, updates and upgrades as necessary.
Manage failover/standby environments for the Production system.
Experience with development, maintenance and training of Oracle Application Express (APEX).
Experience with Enterprise Data Dictionary?s. Coding of database descriptions and specifies identifiers of database-to-database management system or directs others in coding database descriptions.
Calculates optimum values for database parameters such as amount of computer memory and physical storage to be used by database.
Recommends and implements corporate policies on which users can access which databases, and what data can be accessed by users and in what manner.
Selects and enters codes of utility program to monitor database performance such as distribution of records and amount of available memory.
Provides guidance to Software Engineers regarding changes to database architecture; reviews, makes recommendations for modification, and approves programmatic statements, packages, etc., for inserting, modifying and deleting database contents.
Expert communicator that trains users and answers user questions.
Confers with co-workers to determine impact of database changes on other systems and staff cost for making changes to database.
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university, or equivalent relevant experience
6 to 10 years related experience in a production OLTP environment
