Senior Oracle DBA Endplay
EndPlay is seeking a Senior Oracle DBA to provide database administration as part of our Systems Operations Group on servers located at EndPlay's data centers.Duties include:
- Provisioning database servers, architectural design, monitoring and other daily routines
- Providing escalation support via phone and email
- Leading new deployments from the database perspective by coordinating with customers and internal resources
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for ensuring high-availability and performance of the databases that support the system in Oracle 11gR2 RAC and other Standalone Database environments
- Work with the Technical team to ensure the associated hardware resource allocation to the databases
- Proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime
- Responsible for providing trend analysis to the Technical and Development teams to enable them to make informed decisions regarding resource management
- Responsible for problem escalation to Development team and Oracle Tech Support as appropriate
- Responsible for improvement and maintenance of the databases to include rollout and upgrades/patches
- Responsible for implementation and release of database changes as submitted by the development team
- Perform daily monitoring and maintenance of Databases and on call responsibilities
- Perform back-up and restore of Databases
- Complete security audits on a routine basis
- Performance tuning of Databases
- Migrate Databases to/from different DB Systems/Platforms
- Automate tasks via Shell, SQL and PL/SQL scripting
- Support Development Team in Database design
- Plan and expand current service offerings
- On-boarding and migrating web sites from other hosting facilities to EndPlay
- Provide customer support via telephone, email, knowledge base program and other tools
- Perform other job-related duties as required
Qualifications:
- B.S Computer Science or related field
- 10+ years database administration experience in Oracle DB RAC environment
- 5+ years Linux/UNIX experience
- Oracle DB Certification (OCP) is a plus
- Red Hat Linux distributions experience is a plus
- MySQL / MS SQL Server Database experience is a big plus
- Solid experience with multi-server Web environment / deployments
- Ability to gather requirements, design and implement appropriate solutions
- Strong process oriented experience in terms of implementation and completion
- Solid experience with working with website in PHP, Java on Linux
Requirements:
- Strong knowledge or RDBMS on large Web systems
- Familiarity with databases and web programming languages and automation
- High availability and failover scenarios
- Working knowledge of storage environments (SAN, NAS)
- Software experience with PHP and Java a plus
- Automation via scripting (Perl, Python, Shell, SQL)
- Troubleshooting
- Disaster Recovery
- Ability to work well with customers and in a cross-team environment and to mentor within teams
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills
- Documentation of processes and procedures
