Senior Payroll & Benefits Analyst Narus
The Narus Payroll and Benefits Analyst will be an integral part of the Finance and Human Resources teams reporting to the Corporate Controller with a matrix reporting to the Director of HR. Responsibilities will include US payroll and full life cycle benefits administration. Other duties may include compensation administration and record keeping. This position serves as the subject matter expert for both payroll and benefits to ensure compliance and integrity of data. Critical thinking is required to execute tactically while maintaining a view of long term goals and company objectives.
Manage the payroll process from start to finish. Pays employees by directing the production and issuance of paychecks or electronic transfers to bank accounts.
Design systems to manage payroll, 401 (k) and FSA information; directing the collection, calculation, and entering of data.
Review and approve changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job titles, and department/ division transfers for payroll, 401(k) and FSA.
Determine payroll liabilities and tax withholdings by approving the calculation of employee federal and state income and social security taxes, and employer's social security, unemployment, child support, creditor garnishment, and other orders and implement electronic child support withholding orders and workers compensation payments.
Prepare any necessary reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
Balances the payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies.
Post payroll journal entries and analyze and reconcile all payroll expense related general ledger accounts.
Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests.
Determines payroll guidelines and authors payroll policies and desk procedures. Researches and implements best practices.
Payroll Prime for Sarbanes-Oxley internal control reviews, internal corporate audits, 401 (K) audits, and other benefits audits.
Interprets and complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
Determine when wages become abandoned and must be paid to the state; work with the Narus Unclaimed Property Prime to ensure timely filings and payments.
Determine which state?s income tax should be withheld when an employee works in more than one state
Determine which states exclude from income domestic partners and same-sex marriage health insurance benefits
Determine which states require child support withholding from lump sum payments
Understand taxation and reporting differences between nonresident aliens and expatriates
Understand fringe benefit taxation and reporting requirements
Consult with Boeing Tax, as necessary, for unusual cases and ensure compliance with Boeing policies and procedures.
Benefits Administration & Analysis
Works with benefits broker in handling the administration of all benefit programs, including open enrollment, escalation of issues by employees, cost analysis, and processing enrollments, changes, and terminations as needed
Serve as a liaison between employees and the appropriate benefit provider for any questions regarding benefit programs.
Reconcile monthly benefit invoices and payroll records to ensure accurate coverage and cost analysis.
Work with outside vendor on COBRA issues and serve as the main point of contact for terminated employees and their dependents.
Manage all benefit audits and reporting requirements.
Partner with HR Generalists on Leave of Absence (LOA) administration to include tracking, reporting, and making payment arrangements for benefits.
Administer the wellness program and design wellness initiatives.
Responsible for file organization of all required payroll and benefits records to ensure they are complete and in order including hard copy and electronic files.
Support the development of custom reports, automating processes, and suggesting alternative approaches to better and more efficiently meet business needs.
Works on other related human resources projects as needed.
Bachelor?s degree in Business, HR or related field or equivalent experience.
Minimum 3 years of progressive benefits and compensation experience, preferably in a high technology industry.
Exceptional customer focus, utilizing excellent interpersonal skills.
Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
Ability to manage projects with a keen eye for detail
Advanced Excel skills preferred.
CPP certification a plus
