Senior Performance Engineer Appia
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED Looking for a unique opportunity to show off your skills at a cool and exciting company? Appia is looking for a Senior Performance Engineer to be part of our Core Team. The candidate will design and implement new product enhancements to increase performance and scalability, as well as measure and analyze new features and releases. The Performance Engineer must demonstrate technical expertise and the ability to understand new system architectures, pinpoint problem areas in n-Tier systems, and develop streamlined prioritized performance test plans based on conversations with Development and Product Management.
The Performance Engineer will use a variety of tools including load generators and custom developed software. They will create special scenarios that mimic current, predicted and unpredicted system behavior to measure the products scalability, stability and reliability. The outcome of these scenarios will be used to increase the performance and scalability of the product to meet the ever-increasing demands of Appia?s business. This Engineer will also help consolidate, analyze and present data as well as document best practices to increase Appia?s abilities to monitor and manage its systems.
Scope performance testing efforts, prioritize test cases and develop solid project milestones
Design and run scalability, stability and stress tests using industry standard and custom developed tools
Develop testing scenarios based on current production traffic patterns and predicted future traffic
Design appropriately sized environments to generate adequate load to emulate various production traffic patterns
Analyze and summarize test results and create capacity plans/best practice guides
Automate test scenarios and enhance testing frameworks
Generate periodic reports showing current product load and performance against predicted load and target performance goals
Minimum Job Requirements:
5+ years work experience with Java and J2EE technologies
5+ years of software benchmark testing, performance analysis and measurement of technically challenging systems
Strong troubleshooting and reasoning skills
Strong knowledge of HTTP load generation and measurement software (ex: LoadRunner, WebLOAD, JMeter, Siege, Grinder)
Familiarity with tools such as Fiddler, Firebug and JProfiler
Proficiency with the following technologies - JSP, XML, JSON, SQL, SQL Server, common J2EE App Server
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field is required
Familiarity with n-Tier software architectures
Ability to debug and resolve difficult technical problems and system bottlenecks
Demonstrable experience with Java Application Servers such as WebLogic and Tomcat
Ability to determine the feasibility of projects in a fast paced deadline driven environment
Ability to work under pressure
Ability to anticipate problems proactively and take appropriate actions to mitigate negative impact
Exposure to iterative and incremental agile software development methodology is a plus.
Developers work in an open office environment and work a standard 40 hours a week. However, evening or weekend work may be necessary to meet deadlines or solve specific problems.
