Summary:
The Sr. Principal Engineer will help design, develop, test, and support significant maintenance efforts on existing products as well as design and develop significant supportability enhancements for X-IO products. This role may also analyze incoming high priority issues and resolve highly technical and complex customer issues in an efficient and responsive manner. As a member of the Sustaining Engineering team, this position will also work closely with others to design, develop and maintain the infrastructure used for development, testing and support of X-IO firmware.
Principal Duties:
Participate in defining new supportability functionality for the X-IO product lines
Architect, design and implement internal firmware functions for the X-IO Intelligent Storage Element (ISE) and Emprise product lines to meet Product and Serviceability requirements
Work on firmware problem resolution and delivery including responding to firmware issues within the company and at customer sites as needed
Implement automated tests as needed
Contribute written articles to the technical support knowledge base for customers and internal use
Education
BS, MS, or PhD degree (Math, CS, CE, or EE)
Qualifications
6-12 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Proficiency in C and/or C++
Experience with embedded firmware development environments and real time systems
Proven ability to design, implement, and test large scale embedded firmware features
Experience with storage devices or subsystems
Working knowledge of the X-IO SAN environment a plus
Experience in java-based web development (HTML, Java, JSF, Tomcat, Eclipse, Maven, Flex) desirable
Must be comfortable digging into new and foreign environments and technologies.
Strong collaborative attitude and willingness to both learn and share knowledge with team members across the organization.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
