Job Description
Provide Manufacturing leadership for the successful introduction and start-up of new products into manufacturing. Partner with design engineering, supply chain, Manufacturing Engineering, strategic development partners, suppliers, and CMs to achieve key product quality, cost, and reliability goals. Be the primary representative of Manufacturing in cross-functional NPI Core Teams. Assure Manufacturing resources are aligned to NPI schedules and deliverables. Assure other organizations meet their deliverables in timeframes prescribed by SSN PLC/NPI schedule policy. Represent Manufacturing in key PLC checkpoint reviews.
Key Responsibilities:
Be the primary representative of Manufacturing in cross-functional NPI Core Teams.
Develop and execute a Manufacturing Plan for new products in conjunction with Engineering, Product Management, supply chain, quality & reliability, contract manufacturers and development partners.
Coordinate and commitments within Manufacturing, project management, commitments, and communication across all departments.
Drive development of product test plans with test engineering, quality and reliability, including production test strategy and manufacturing process instructions.
Proactively anticipate and communicate critical/strategic resource or priority issues with action plans for resolution to management and other affected personnel.
Coordinate DFx reviews by partnering with Engineering and CMs to achieve key quality, cost, and reliability goals. Examples: design margin analysis, preferred parts, suppliers, component/system cost, alternative components or technologies, DFM, DFA, DFT, DFR.
Work with development team to understand the product?s electrical circuit designs, mechanical designs, peripheral interfaces, protocols, firmware/software dependencies, and any new technologies used to implement the design.
Continuously refine and improve the production, test and configuration process and methods to reduce product cost and improve quality. Incorporate new/changing manufacturing process requirements into the appropriate design guidelines.
Co-develop capacity planning model with Manufacturing Engineering, planning and CMs.
Coordinate implementation of new h/w, assembly and test production tooling and test system requirements in order to lead alpha/beta/pilot builds.
Coordinate with Manufacturing Reliability, Component, Supplier Quality Engineering, and HW/FW QA to assure that all necessary component, supplier and product evaluations and compliance testing are completed according to PLC/NPI schedules.
Collaborate with CMs to develop and implement the material handling, flow strategies and floor layout to provide safe and efficient manufacturing processes while minimizing WIP and production cycle times.
Identify, analyze, and initiate corrective action when product design failures are uncovered.
Take ownership for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of source control drawings and related manufacturing documentation
Author BOMs, ECOs, MCOs and deviations within PLM system (Agile) as required.
Required Experience
BSEE, ME, or Physics
Advanced degree preferred. Manufacturing Product, Process, or NPI Engineering experience in high volume electronics manufacturing environment required.
Familiarity with RF communication systems, circuits and applications.
Familiarity with board schematics, test instrumentation and debugging techniques.
Demonstrated excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal skills, and results driven, team player.
Demonstrated success in fast-paced, complex, business environment.
Domestic and international travel may be required, up to 25%.
