Summary Description:
The Senior Project Engineer?s principal responsibilities are to provide technical leadership and project management for development through successful commissioning of new, automated manufacturing equipment and processes. In addition, this position will provide technical leadership and support for improvement, advanced troubleshooting and modification of existing manufacturing equipment and processes.
In this role, the candidate shall be responsible for the mechanical design and safe, reliable performance of the associated equipment or systems. The candidate will at times design, construct, debug and document systems. However, many projects will involve specifying requirements and overseeing others in the accomplishment of project tasks
The Senior Project Engineer shall report to the Engineering Manager and work principally with Manufacturing, Technical Engineering, Maintenance, Facilities, outside contractors and equipment suppliers to achieve objectives either as team leader, team member or individual technical contributor.
Essential Job Functions:
? Develop and maintain a design standard for production equipment and processes that assure safe, reliable operation and facilitates troubleshooting, maintenance and repair.
? Responsible for assuring new or modified production equipment or processes conform to applicable safety standards, regulations and codes.
? Demonstrates safety leadership in day to day activities, equipment design and management of assigned project resources.
? Specify/design, evaluate, troubleshoot and commission automated production processes, equipment and instrumentation.
? Lead or participate in qualification of new or improved processes, equipment or products.
? Manage and lead project teams in execution of medium to large projects involving automated manufacturing equipment, utilities and/or facilities.
? Prepare detailed project plans, budgets, etc . Secure required resources and funding. Track and report progress.
? Oversee work of vendors, contractors, maintenance personnel and other engineers working on assigned projects.
? Support manufacturing by providing advanced troubleshooting and technical support for improvements or modification to equipment or processes.
? Responsible for the creation of documentation for new and modified production equipment. To include operational and maintenance instructions.
? Responsible for assuring that operations and maintenance personnel are adequately trained on new or modified processes and equipment.
? Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
? BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering
? 8+ years of engineering experience in an automated manufacturing environment.
? Working knowledge of OSHA regulations for machine safety and guarding.
? 3+ years of experience in Project Management of medium to large scale projects.
? Significant experience in leading multi-disciplined teams in developing production processes and equipment. .
? Experience in the design of automated production equipment.
? Experience in specification through commissioning of automated production equipment.
? Strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to solve complex problems and to innovate
? Good verbal, written, computer and organizational skills
? Strong attention to detail and deadline oriented
? Experienced user of MS Project, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Desirable Qualifications:
? Experience in new plant startup or large industrial/automation projects
? Proficient with AutoCAD and Solidworks.
? PMP Certification
? Previous experience/certification in lean manufacturing, 5S and/or Six Sigma
? Experience using SCADA systems for acquiring production equipment performance and quality information.
? Knowledge of design for combustible environments.
Travel requirements:
Domestic and International Travel to suppliers, trade shows and other sites will be required on a variable basis.
