About the Job
We are currently seeking a senior project engineer for our San Francisco, CA location. Successful candidates will be responsible for technical engineering support for Nexant's Demand Management - Energy Efficiency business unit. General responsibilities will be focused on performing energy engineering services for utility clients.
Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct energy audits (both scoping- and investment-grade) at medium to large commercial and industrial facilities (from a wide variety of manufacturing, assembly, and process heavy industry types) to identify and recommend energy efficiency improvements in systems such as but not limited to: compressed air, refrigeration, data centers, process heating, motors, boilers, pumping, food processing, lighting, and HVAC
Provide technical assistance to support energy efficient project implementation
Write technical reports summarize results from energy audits and/or retro-commissioning services to recommend savings amounts and incentive payments
Maintain quality control of deliverable products, demonstrating technical excellence, objectivity, and clarity while maintaining project schedules
Mentor and train junior engineers on various energy efficiency projects, including energy auditing, M&V, and commissioning/retro-commissioning
Conduct measurement and verification tasks as warranted
Meet with clients to present results, and develop new scopes of work
Meet overall project budgets and profitability targets
Bachelor?s, Master's degree or PhD in mechanical or similar engineering preferred
A strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and principals, motors, compressed air, thermodynamics, fluids, and heat transfer
Minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy industry related projects is highly desired; PhD degree can substitute for 2 years of experience
Demonstrated experience in energy auditing and performing associated measures analysis
An understanding of building systems (particularly HVAC and lighting systems), thermodynamics, and heat transfer
Exceptional writing, verbal communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills are required
Hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, and/or control systems is a plus
Experience in energy modeling is a plus
