About the Job
We are currently seeking a Senior Project Engineer for the Engineering group in Nexant?s Wheaton, Illinois location. This position will serve as a technical specialist in industrial processes and systems to support the energy auditing projects in our Demand Management-Energy Efficiency ? Engineering Division. The successful candidate must possess a strong knowledge of industrial compressed air systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct energy audits (both scoping- and investment-grade) at medium to large industrial facilities (from a wide variety of manufacturing, assembly, and process industry types) to identify and recommend energy efficiency improvements in systems such as but not limited to: compressed air, refrigeration, process heating/cooling, plastic molding or forming, boilers, pumping, food processing, lighting, and HVAC
Provide technical assistance to support energy efficient project implementation in industrial applications
Write technical reports summarize results from energy audits to recommend savings amounts and incentive payments
Maintain quality control of deliverable products, demonstrating technical excellence, objectivity, and clarity while maintaining project schedules
Mentor and train junior engineers on various energy efficiency projects in industrial applications including energy auditing and M&V of results
Conduct measurement and verification tasks as warranted
Meet with clients to co-manage projects, present results, and develop new scopes of work
Meet overall project budgets and profitability targets
Bachelor, Master's degree or Ph.D. in Mechanical or similar Engineering
PE strongly preferred or intent to pursue
Minimum of 5 years work experience within the industrial HVAC design, commissioning, energy management, facility management, and/or energy efficiency industry.
Proficient in design and specification of compressed air systems
A strong understanding of industrial mechanical and electrical systems and principals, thermodynamics, fluids, and heat transfer
Demonstrated experience in energy auditing and performing associated measures analysis in industrial applications
Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deliverable deadlines and budgets
Excellent writing, interpersonal, presentation, and analytical skills
Experience in the following areas is a plus:
o Process heating and cooling systems, HVAC, electrical, plumbing and building automation systems
o Perform commissioning and/or retro-commissioning of industrial systems (compressed air, refrigeration, process loads, etc.)
o Building and energy modeling/simulation tools (e.g. Trace, DOE-2, eQuest)
o Calculation of energy savings for commercial HVAC and/or industrial process energy efficiency improvements.
o Cost estimating for recommended projects
