About the Job
We are currently seeking a senior project manager for Nexant?s Placentia, CA, office. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the business management functional organization in Southern California as well as providing oversight for multiple energy efficiency and demand response programs/projects for commercial, industrial, and utility clients. In addition, the candidate shall play a key role in identifying and supporting marketing efforts in order to secure new business.
Our clients include public agencies, investor-owned utilities administering ratepayer-funded energy efficiency programs, energy end users, and energy service companies. Successful candidates must demonstrate ability to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the position. We are looking for an exceptional person who enjoys working in a challenging and innovative environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manage one to five full time staff as direct reports;
Manage programs related to energy utilization including strategic planning, client relationships, proposal preparation, and project management
Manage day to day aspects of projects including quality of work product, client communications, budget, schedule, and business management staff;
Directly responsible performance of contracts and profitability;
Quantify and secure overall staffing needs and related resource requirements for the office;
Maintain quality control of all deliverable products, demonstrating attention to details, objectivity, and clarity while maintaining project schedules;
Meet with clients to co-manage projects, present results, and develop new scopes of work;
Conduct employee performance evaluations and oversee overall staff development (e.g., project management skills, technical capabilities);
Identify and support marketing opportunities and efforts to secure new business for the office;
Demonstrate best efforts to achieve overall company and business unit performance goals, project performance measures, billability measures, and individual performance measures (e.g., productivity, quality of work, attitude, professionalism) as set by the company and specified in the Annual Development Plan and the Employee Performance Evaluation.
Qualifications
Masters technical degree or MBA preferred;
5+ years of experience as a senior level project manager, or similar, consulting in the utility, energy, design/build, or environment sector;
Capacity and understanding needed to run a business;
Ability to meet aggressive business goals;
Ability to lead and delegate staff and responsibilities;
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deliverable deadlines and budgets while maintaining exceptional quality control;
Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills;
Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
