Senior Project Manager, Professional Services Seven Networks
Overview/Background of Position:The Senior Project Manager performs a variety of critical functions as the focal point for Professional Services projects within SEVEN. The Senior Project Manager works closely with the SEVEN account management teams to establish project requirements and customer expectations, and works with the SEVEN internal personnel to ensure that these requirements are met. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for establishing the levels of effort, timelines, and resourcing for PS projects; tracking the status and progress; and providing regular updates to the account and organizational management. As part of the PS organization, the Senior Project Manager will also assist in developing and delivering Statements of Work and other project-related documentation.
In this role, he/she will also need to be able to effectively interact with various SEVEN personnel, including engineers within the PS organization, developers, development managers, operations engineers, as well as direct interactions with customer personnel. Outstanding communications skills and the ability to effectively understand and articulate technical issues and solutions will be a critical element for success.
Primary responsibilities:
Project /Practice Management
Creates and executes project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
Identifies resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities
Manages day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope
Identifies issues and ensures timely actions to mitigate, including escalating when necessary
Minimizes exposure and risk on projects
Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately
Financial Management
Understands basic revenue models, P/L, and cost-to-completion projections and makes decisions accordingly
Understands our pricing model and billing procedures
Analyzes project profitability, revenue, margins, bill rates and utilization
Assures project legal documents are completed and signed
Communication
Holds regular status meetings with project team, as appropriate
Effectively communicates relevant project information to superiors
Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion
Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully
Technical Understanding
Possesses general understanding in the areas of software development, integration, and customization
Understands Internet, Intranet, Extranet and client/server architectures
Teamwork
Motivates team to work together in the most efficient manner
Keeps track of lessons learned and shares those lessons with team members
Mitigates team conflict and communication problems
Required qualifications:
BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience required
10 or more years of technical/project management experience
Demonstrated ability to work effectively under difficult/stressful situations
Demonstrated proficiency at managing customer expectations and internal execution on multiple projects simultaneously
Detail-oriented individual with excellent time management and organizational skills. Ability to work well with minimal management oversight
Strong technical background; familiarity with wireless technologies and enterprise software
Outstanding analytical skills, excellent written and oral presentation skills
Ability to effectively interact with customers, marketing, sales, channels, partners and vendors
Technically competent with various software programs, such as Microsoft Project, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential
Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and other departments
Desired Qualifications:
Project Management certification (such as Project Management Professional)
MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience
