The Job
Responsibilities
- Perform detailed dynamic, structural, and thermal analysis of turbomachinery components, including impellers, housings, and bearing systems
- Utilize both FEA and hand calculations to enable rapid design iterations of new components as well as supporting existing turbomachinery components
- Assist in proof testing, review engine test data, and provide analysis support of all operational aspects of turbomachinery components.
Requirements
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- 5+ years experience working with turbomachinery specific applications, 10+ years desired
- Experience with linear and nonlinear FEA for structural problems and transient thermal problems, ANSYS a plus
Preferred skills
- Experience developing, specifying, and analyzing cast parts
- Knowledge of analyzing for limited life components including detailed fracture and fatigue analysis
- CAD experience, specifically Unigraphics NX6+ a plus
