Summary: Questar Assessment, Inc. is seeking highly motivated individuals for two senior-level Psychometrician/Researcher positions in the Psychometrics and Research department at our corporate office in Apple Valley, MN. Questar delivers high quality, end-to-end assessment solutions for K-12 large-scale statewide assessment programs, as well as smaller-scale district-wide, alternate, and English language learner (ELL) assessment programs. We provide comprehensive solutions that span the assessment life cycle ? from test development and materials production to scoring and reporting. The Psychometrics and Research Department plays a critical role in all aspects of the test development, scoring, reporting, and quality of our products and services, and the Senior Psychometrician positions are responsible for implementing psychometric procedures for educational testing programs, ensuring accuracy of data, conducting statistical analysis, and reporting results to clients. In addition, these individuals will be responsible for establishing research agendas in the area of online assessment, new and novel item types, human cognition, alternate assessment, or other area that supports new products and services.
Primary Responsibilities:
Perform both classical and IRT item analyses to support equating, validity studies, sampling plans, and other studies as needed.
Works at a high level of skill, both independently and as part of a team, in all phases of statistical analyses.
Senior level individual contributor in statistical analysis and interpretation of results as it applies to the organization?s primary focus, our client?s programs and company initiatives.
Complete all phases of statistical analysis within tight timelines with the support of the psychometric team.
Assist other team members to ensure proper interpretation and application of results, mentor junior staff, and advise state departments of education on assessment and psychometric issues.
Produce reports and interpretation for use in technical documentation and in team or client discussions
Participate in research projects that further the primary focus of the organization and K-12 educational assessment.
Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. in educational statistics, measurement, psychometrics, or related field
Five or more years of large scale educational assessment experience
Experience using statistical software such as SPSS or SAS and IRT software such as WINSTEPS or PARSCALE
Understanding of item calibration, score equating, and item analysis using both classical and IRT methods
