Senior Release Engineer Guidewire Software

Guidewire is seeking an experienced Release Engineer to design and develop the next version of our customer-facing release process, so that we can stay ahead of the frequency of our product releases that has been growing with our customer base. The position values someone who is detail oriented, highly dependable, and responsive to time-critical requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience releasing high-quality, packaged enterprise software. Basic programming skills are a necessity, as well as experience with scripting languages and various build tools.
Besides managing the release process by coordinating with program managers and product managers of product teams, you will also be an integral part of the Development Operations team, challenging the status quo every day and seek ways to improve the efficiency and quality of our release process.
Job Requirements
The role will entail interfacing with our Engineering, QA, Customer Support and Sales organizations to package and deliver customer-facing software releases. Releases include Major, Minor and maintenance releases, patch releases, and various other deliverables supporting Globalization, Reporting, and other efforts.
The role will be responsible to:
- Coordinate with various teams to define, build, and distribute release deliverables
- Develop, maintain and execute release checklists
- Perform build acceptance tests
- Collaborate with Customer Support, Sales, etc. to customize build deliverables for various end users
- Build and verify Escrow releases of our source code
- Work with Development to develop and optimize build and deployment scripts
- Work with QA to define and automate final build acceptance tests
- Assist with bug fix verification during release testing
The successful candidate will have 3+ years of Release Management experience. The candidate must have excellent attention to detail and the critical thinking skills required to build and verify complex software deliverables. Background with build tools such as ANT, Maven, GIT, Perforce, and Jenkins is required. Experience with scripting languages is a must (i.e. Perl, Ruby, Shell). Programming skills in an Object-Oriented language (Java, C#), and a solid grasp of coding logic is particularly valuable. Finally, a QA and/or Development background is a plus.
