Senior Research Scientist, Metabolic Engineering Allylix
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED The metabolic engineering senior research scientist will work hands on and lead and mentor a small group of scientists to characterize biological pathways and constituent enzymes for the production of target molecules in genetically engineered yeast. The primary duties will be to evaluate strains and processes for the production of renewable chemicals by analysis of carbon flow and assay of critical enzymes and metabolites. Scientists will design and implement assay methodologies for the relevant enzymes and metabolites, determine which genes and enzymes are over- and underrepresented, and participate in developing strategies, strains and processes to provide optimum carbon flux to products. These positions require extensive knowledge of biochemical pathways and enzymology, as well as a broad, genomic and proteomic view and approach to yeast biology. The positions require a PhD in metabolic engineering, microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, synthetic biology, or related discipline and extensive experience in enzymology, protein purification, metabolic flux analysis, genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics and a thorough understanding of microbial genetics and physiology. Strong analytic chemistry and biochemistry skills utilizing various spectroscopic and chromatographic techniques are also required.
