This is not your typical CPA credentialed, accounts receivable role. In this role, you need to learn and stay up-to-speed broadly and deeply on how the business operates ? locally and internationally. You need to be intimate to every Tillster/Client contract ? so as to understand all the trigger points for invoicing. To be successful, you will need to actively engage with leaders and staff cross-functionally so as to understand the client relationships beyond the words on the page of any contract ? which will require you to have an outgoing personality, supported by a highly inquisitive and analytical mindset. Maniacal attention to detail and unwavering dedication to accuracy is critical in all that you do. You will quickly acquire a complete picture of the revenue generation process of Tillster, becoming the subject matter expert in the area. You are dedicated to continuous improvement in knowledge gathering and data management; and, driving systems and processes refinement, productivity and efficiencies. As part of ongoing growth, you will be responsible for recommending, developing, and implementing financial processes and procedures with effective financial planning and control in accordance with US GAAP and corporate policy. This is a highly-visible role with great responsibility, requiring a close working relationship with the Corporate Controller and others as needed.
Ideally, you have 3-5 years? work experience in the technology industry and specifically software licensing/SaaS environments. Lastly, this is a role in which you will closely manage very low dollar amounts but thousands of transactions per month (conversely, if you?re experienced in high dollar, low volume transaction environments ? then this role is not for you!).
You will primarily be located at Tillster's Century City (Los Angeles) office with effective onsite and virtual interaction with the teams in the San Diego, CA and Atlanta, GA business operations centers.
Review customer contracts and implement a step-by-step outline covering the billing through collections process
Ability to work with financial institutions to process thousands of transactions using domestic and international ACH
Extensive experience and comprehensive understanding of GAAP with the ability to evaluate, create and manage environmental controls
Develop, implement, and maintain company policies and procedures within the environment to ensure transactions are accurately processed, recorded and presented in accordance with GAAP and Company policies
Provide guidance to other staff members and subordinates to master responsibilities, achieve goals, and resolve issues
Manage and coordinate responsibilities (including that of subordinates through appropriate delegation) with a clear understanding of workload and resource needs to ensure efficient output and that work is performed timely and accurately
Work cross-functionally and collaborate with other departments to resolve issues, complete projects, and develop reporting processes to support decision making
Review and prepare complex journal entries, process complex transactions, and manage GL account activity in total to ensure balances are recorded and reported in the quarterly / annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Assist in researching transactions and accounting activity to ensure compliance with GAAP and regulations
Other duties as required or directed
BS/BA in accounting, finance, or related field; Master?s degree or professional certification (CPA, CMA, or CIA) is a plus
5+ years general accounting experience in a management capacity
Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting and internal controls
Experience with a process and system improvements
Experience with a small to mid-level accounting system (ERP, QuickBooks)
Detail-oriented with excellent time management, prioritization and organizational skills
Strong analytical skills, efficient, and self-motivated with the ability to follow through and achieve results
Proficiency in all MS Office programs, advanced skill in Excel
Ability to recommend and implement change
Outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills
Ability to work well across all functions and levels in the organization
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong project management skills
Ability to analyze date, trouble shoot problems and multitask
Ability to identify, address, and resolve issues with minimal supervision
Technology industry and software/SaaS company experience is a plus
