This position will design and deliver automated characterization solutions for integrated RF front end products. The primary focus is on the cellular RF front end, though many parallels to the military multiband radio will be explored. The goal is to do extensive part characterization over a wide range of tests and conditions. The parts may include prototype circuits or complete products at an engineering development level. The Lab Automation engineer may work with the production test team on the product handoff, but production test is not part of this set of responsibilities. This position is part of the RF Integration team, based out of the Palatine, Illinois design center. Peregrine?s small company atmosphere challenges engineers with solving tough technical problems as well as provides opportunity to contribute to all aspects of the product development process.
Roles and responsibilities for the Lab Automation Engineer include:
Design and assemble automated characterization solutions
Develop software for automated characterization solutions
Create data analysis tools and templates
Customization and user support
Work with production test team at product handoff
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering. A minimum of 5 years of experience creating automated test systems is a must. Must have experience with measurements of cell phone transmitters. Must have extensive RF measurement experience, including large and small signal circuit and system measurements. Experience with several of the following blocks is expected: PAs, LNAs, mixers, switches, filters, modulators and demodulators, oscillators, and PLLs. Must have solid understanding of common cellular standards such as GSM, Edge, CDMA, and W-CDMA. Must be a Labview expert, with knowledge of CVI and other test system automation languages a plus.
The candidate must be comfortable working in a small team with significant responsibilities as a sole contributor.
