This position will design and deliver automated characterization solutions for integrated RF front end products. The goal is to do extensive part characterization over a wide range of tests and conditions. The parts may include prototype circuits or complete products at an engineering development level. The Lab Automation engineer may work with the production test team on the product handoff, but production test is not part of this set of responsibilities.
This position is part of the RF Integration team, based out of the Arlington Heights, Illinois design center. Peregrine?s small company atmosphere challenges engineers with solving tough technical problems as well as provides opportunity to contribute to all aspects of the product development process. The candidate will be a key contributor to our best-in-class mobile wireless RF transmit products based on Peregrine Semiconductor?s proprietary UltraCMOS? process technology.
Roles & Responsibilities:
? Design, assemble, and validate automated characterization solutions
? Develop software for automated characterization solutions
? Create data analysis tools and templates
? Use automated characterization system to evaluate parts
? Customization and user support
? Work with production test team at product handoff
Knowledge, Skill and Competency Requirements:
? Extensive experience creating automated RF test systems
? Must be a Labview or CVI expert, with knowledge of other test system automation languages a plus
? Must have experience with measurements of cell phone transmitters
? Must have extensive RF measurement experience, including large and small signal measurements
? In-depth knowledge of Analog and Radio Frequency (RF) principles
? Demonstrative understanding of analog/digital circuit test, measurement methodologies and test equipment for IC- and module-level testing
? Demonstrated record of releasing high-volume RF products into production environment
The following traits are highly valued:
? Proficiency in multiple programming languages including ANSI C
? RF chain analysis of Power, Gain, IP3, Noise Figure
? Experience with several of the following blocks is expected: PAs, LNAs, mixers, switches, filters, modulators and demodulators, oscillators, and PLLs
? Knowledge of 3GPP standards including GSM, EDGE, WCDMA and LTE
? Experience in electrical design, simulation, layout of the test solution hardware including Electromagnet Simulation
? Strength in documentation clarity and completeness
? Knowledge of SPI, I2C, or MIPI RFFE digital interfaces
? Hands-on use of RF measurement equipment to validate performance
? Experience with the following software tools: JMP, ADS, Matlab, MS Project, Datapower, LabView, Agile.
Education and Experience:
? BSEE/CS or equivalent minimum; MS preferred
? 5+ years of relevant experience.
