Senior Scientist AgraQuest

We are seeking an accomplished Senior Scientist, with a strong background in chromatographic
separations and structure elucidation. The selected individual will provide scientific leadership and
clarity to our chemistry department, guiding the isolation and structure elucidation of active metabolites
and strengthening the IP position of our pipeline products. The individual is expected to work closely
with the scientific leadership staff and the strategic marketing team.
This individual will assume a technical leadership role in implementing novel isolation strategies for early
detection of secondary metabolites from microorganisms. This is a unique opportunity for an
outstanding scientist to play a significant role in expanding the company product portfolio by identifying
lead candidates for future development.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
? Isolation and structure elucidation of active metabolites from microorganisms using bio?assay
guided fractionation.
? Enhance the throughput of the Natural Products Group by identifying and implementing novel
separation strategies for early detection of metabolites.
? Identify, resource and implement innovative and state?of?the?art instrumentation for streamlining
structure elucidation of secondary metabolites.
? Communicate with microbiologists, entomologists and plant pathologists regarding assay requests
and final results for submitted samples.
? Provide technical guidance to the junior staff in all areas of Natural Products Chemistry.
? Provide verbal and written updates at internal meetings and scientific conferences.
? The successful candidate will serve the role of key contributor in the chemistry group. He/she will
be expected to interact with colleagues from other disciplines and provide chemical updates to
members of the executive team.
Educational Requirements and Job Experience:
? Ph.D. or its foreign equivalent from an accredited college or university in the field of Organic
Chemistry or a related chemistry discipline.
? Comprehensive knowledge of chromatographic separation techniques for isolating water?soluble
secondary metabolites.
? Three to seven years of relevant work experience in Natural Products Chemistry, with an emphasis
in MS applications for structure elucidation.
? Experience working in a fast?paced, team?oriented working environment is desirable.
Knowledge:
? Strong background in Natural Products Chemistry.
? Proven track record for elucidating structures of novel metabolites.
? Working knowledge of latest analytical technological and scientific trends.
? Hands?on experience with isolation of water?soluble compounds.
? Microsoft suite of program: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat
